June is PTSD Awareness Month

One message from our recent West Meets East conversation with Dr. Tom Anez continues to resonate: “PTSD does not define who I am. It’s part of who I am, but it’s not me.”

As a disabled combat veteran, vocational rehabilitation specialist, and reentry facilitator, Dr. Anez shared that PTSD is often misunderstood. While it may be a lifelong condition for some individuals, it does not mean a person cannot work, contribute, lead, or thrive.

People living with PTSD bring resilience, determination, empathy, and valuable skills to our workplaces and communities. Understanding, flexibility, and support can make a meaningful difference in helping individuals succeed.

This PTSD Awareness Month, let’s challenge stigma and remember that a diagnosis does not define a person’s potential.
